Webpage Validation

Validating a web page or validating your HTML /XHTML or CSS code basically refers to using a program or an online service to check that the web page that you created is free of errors.

What does a HTML/ CSS validator do?
A html/css validator basically checks the page to make sure that the codes on your web page complies with the standards set by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Some validators check only for errors in codes, while some others also make suggestions about your code, telling you when a certain way of writing code might lead to unexpected results.

Validating your webpage thus helps in Cross-Browser, Cross-Platform and Future Compatibility.

The W3C has its own online validator http://validator.w3.org/ which can be used for free. You can also validate your stylesheets from W3C using http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator.

WAVE is also a free web page validator. Note that only HTML code will be processed in WAVE. If your code contains PHP, ASP, or other scripting code, it will appear as plain text in the WAVE report.

Google creates own web browser

Google has developed its own web browser named Google Chrome in a challenge to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. Its aim is to deliver a faster, more user-friendly and safer browser. Chrome is to be released as an open-source software like Firefox. Chrome also includes a more powerful JavaScript engine, called V8, to run the next generation of web applications.

How to disable “View Source Code”

Oflate this question has been haunting me a lot..How to stop others from stealin my codes? Apparently the answer is “you cant“. The only way to create web pages, without being able to view the source, is to not use HTML. HTML is designed such that it can be created in a text editor and anyone with a text editor can read it. I tried some tricks like using javascript to disable right click but that again doesnt stop the user from selecting the same option from the view menu in the browser menu bar. Another trick is to place a large comment on top of your source that advises that your source is protected and cannot be viewed. But anyone who wants to steal your code knows ways around all of the obstacles and will still be able to steal your code.

When a user views your webpage, their browser needs to be able to read your source code in order to be able to display it. So the browser first copies the source code from the internet to the user’s Temporary Internet Files folder on their computer prior to rendering the page in their browser window. Thus anyone with a text editor on their computer can access your source code by editing these files that are stored on their own computer. If you stop them from being able to download your pages like this then you also stop them from being able to read your page at all so you might as well not upload it in the first place…ryt??

No Netscape Browsers

Users are advised to stop using Netscape browser since there will be no more development or support provided for Navigator 9, or any previous Netscape browsers. On December 28th 2007, AOL announced that there will be no development or support of Netscape browsers after 1st of Feb, 2008. However users will still be able to download old versions of Netscape from the Netscape Archive.
